Minecraft mods not working anymore?

Minecraft mods not working anymore?

So the day before yesterday I downloaded Minecraft Forge for 1.12.2 and two mods for Minecraft 1.12.2. Library and Dragon Mounts 2, as well as a resource pack for Minecraft 1.14. They worked just fine for the first night. I made separate worlds and checked out both mod and resources pack. They worked as they should, then I quit the world and went to bed.

But the next day I downloaded Optifine (forgot what version), because everyone recommended it and the zooming is handy. I also downloaded a second Minecraft 1.12.2 resource pack specifically for Dragon Mounts 2. I moved them to the appropriate folders in .minecraft and opened Minecraft to check them out.

There was no longer an option to manage Minecraft mods. When I played the world I had spawned the dragons mounts in they where no longer there and the items from the mod didn't show up in the items list. The mods were as I left them the previous night, but my Minecraft was acting as if I had no mods installed. The resource pack I had still worked and showed up, but the one specifically for Dragon Mounts didn't show up.

Thinking that Optifine or the specific resource pack were causing trouble, I deleted them and closed Minecraft then opened it again. Still no mod options and no mods in-game…. thinking that maybe installing another mod would make it show them again, I downloaded another Minecraft 1.12.2 mod (Fire and Ice Dragons). Nothing, still.

I tried deleting the mods folder and making it again then downloading the mods again. Still broke. I refreshed my PC. Still broke. I thought maybe my Forge was messed up, uses the file toolbar search to find everything called “forge” in my PC, tried to delete it's files but I kept getting a error “this them does not exist in this location anymore” even though it did, or just saying it had an error trying to delete it.

Fearing that fucked it up further in my attempts to fix it, I re-downloaded Minecraft Forge 1.12.2 successfully. Searched it again, no doubles so it must have replaced the previous version.
